School Discipline Guidance from U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education is Rescinded

Published February 2019

On January 8, 2014, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Education released a guidance package on school discipline that explains the responsibilities of local school districts under federal law to administer student discipline without discriminating on the basis of race, color, or national origin. On December 21, 2018 the Departments withdrew that guidance. Here is the letter from the USDE Dear Colleague Letter 12.21.19
