Guidance from the USDE on enrolling immigrant students

Published October 2014

This September the U.S. Department of Education released new guidance on enrolling new immigrant students in school. This guidance is a supplement to previously issued guidance on educational services for immigrant students (the link for this guidance is also provided below). This guidance answers questions about documentation, funding, data collection, and other enrollment procedures. It’s important to review this guidance and make sure you are providing all children equal access to education regardless of the parents’ actual or perceived national origin, citizenship, or immigration status.
