Iowa Dyslexia Task Force

This task force, established by the Iowa General Assembly in 2018 (SF 2360), “shall submit a report regarding its findings and recommendations relating to dyslexia…no later than November 15, 2019.” The task force report includes:

  1. An overview of the symptoms and effects of dyslexia
  2. An overview of current practices related to dyslexia response in Iowa schools
  3. A description of current concerns relating to dyslexia response identified by members of the task force
  4. Recommendation of any proposed legislation or rulemaking or any additional personnel or funding needed to address the needs of Iowa students with dyslexia
  5. Recommendations relating to dyslexia response for specific stakeholder groups, including but not limited to parents, educators, administrators, school boards, and institutes of higher education
  6. A suggested timeline for implementation of the task force’s recommendations

Organizational Meetings - Two organizational meetings, one on Wednesday, October 3, and a second on Wednesday, October 10, will be held via Zoom video conferencing. The meetings are scheduled from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. each day.
