The Iowa Department of Education is sponsoring a two-day workshop on the Holocaust July 2-3 at the Caspe Terrace, 33158 Ute Avenue, in Waukee from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The workshops are being offered by Echoes and Reflections - a leading Holocaust education organization that offers curriculum on teaching the Holocaust and hundreds of eyewitness videos from Holocaust survivors. The workshops are free to attend. License renewal credit will be available.

Participants can attend one or both days, but will need to attend both days in order to be eligible to receive license renewal credit.

Here are the workshops:

July 2: Contemporary Antisemitism

This learning opportunity explores classroom materials to support effective teaching of contemporary antisemitism, its global reach, and its expression in the form of hate speech, violence, denial, and distortion of the Holocaust, and anti-Israel rhetoric. Register here.

July 3: Teaching Night

This learning opportunity explores materials and instructional strategies available in Echoes & Reflections to support effective teaching of the memoir, as well as provides additional background to integrate into instruction.
