How to Get Studies

If you wish to read the full published article underlying a Content Network review, follow the suggestions and links below. For information not covered below, you may contact Marietta Rives (Marietta.Rives@iowa.gov) at the Iowa Department of Education.

Before you start your search, be sure to have the complete bibliographic infomration for the item you want.

  • For books, you need the title, author(s), publisher, copyright date. The ISBN is also helpful but not necessary.
  • For journal articles, you need the article title, author(s), the journal name, the issue date, issue volume and number, and the pages.

Your school library may include professional books and educational journals. Check with the library staff for assistance.

Your AEA media center may have the item. Go to the home page for your AEA and look for a link to media service

  • Use the online catalog to find professional books.
  • Use EBSCOhost to find the full-text of many professional journals. This is a password protected subscription database service. Contact your AEA Media Center for information
  • Ask about additional support. Many AEAs provide some level of interlibrary loan for obtaining journals and books from other libraries.

Public libraries provide interlibrary loan services for their patrons for items they do not own. There may be charges for obtaining these items. Many public libraries have websites with their online catalog, services and policies.

SILO (State of Iowa Libraries Online) contains holdings for many libraries in the state of Iowa. You may borrow items you find here through your local library.

College and University libraries may make some of their resources and collections available to the general public. Their online catalogs are searchable at the following sites. However, their policies on use by non-students/faculty vary. Links to the Regents institutions' libraries:
