H.F. 743 requires school districts to at minimum biannually inform parents of their individual child's reading performance. If intervention is appropriate, the school districts must inform parents of the actions the school district intends to improve the child's reading skills and provide parents with strategies to enable the parents to improve their child's skills. Additionally, if the diagnostic assessments administered in accordance with this subsection indicate that a child is reading below grade level, the school district shall submit a report of the assessment results to the parent, which the parent shall sign and return to the school district. If the parent does not sign or return the report, the school district shall note in the student's record the inaction on the part of the parent.
