How is corporal punishment defined?
The Iowa Code and Iowa Administrative Code both define corporal punishment as the "intentional physical punishment of a student." This includes using unreasonable or unnecessary physical force, or physical contact made with intent to harm or cause pain. Iowa Code section 280.21; 281 IAC r. 103.2.
