What plans does FNS have to evaluate the FFVP?
The details of the evaluation design for the FFVP have not yet been worked out. FNS hopes to conduct a study assessing the impact on dietary intakes of fruits and vegetables by children in participating schools. Conducting such a study using 24 hour dietary recall techniques require significant resources that would enable detection of changes in the number of servings of fruits and vegetables. FNS hopes to conduct a rigorous evaluation assessing child-level impact in the future. To the extent that such a study is undertaken in the future, participating schools would be required to provide necessary support.
