How does the Iowa Department of Education know whether a school meets the definition of persistently dangerous?
Each district reports its expulsion/suspension information on BEDS (Basic Education Data System) by attendance center. Using the definition in Question 6, the Department knows whether any persistently dangerous schools exist in Iowa.
