Will the Iowa DOT issue an Iowa driver's license for students who have a driver's education completion certificate from a virtual driver's education program?
To the best of our knowledge, no. Completing a website driver's education program may help a student develop driving capabilities, but it will not help him/her to get a completion certificate for his/her first driver's license. The Iowa legislature considered providing an option for do-it-yourself home-schooled driver's education, but the legislature did not pass a law to provide for that.
