Must students with IEP's take all district-wide assessments administered. or can we document in an IEP that he/she will only take the MAPS and not the Iowa Assessments?
All students must be included in the district's accountability system. The IEP team is required to decide how that student will participate through taking the Iowa Assessments or through the Iowa Alternate Assessment. The IEP team also should determine how specific students also can access the other district-wide assessments administered by a district. If a student with an IEP does not take the measures for accountability (Iowa Assessments or Iowa Alternate Assessment) they count against the school/district participation rate.
