Will districts still need to demonstrate the infusion of multicultural and gender fair approaches into the curriculum? Or will the Iowa Core include multicultural and gender fair approaches that all must infuse?
While the Iowa Core doesn't specifically address multicultural and gender fair issues, this is a requirement established by 281--Iowa Administrative Code 12.5(8). At this point, the requirement still exists and will be incorporated along with other curriculum and instructional program requirements into the implementation of the Iowa Core. The DE is conducting a review of the Iowa Code, relevant sections of the Iowa Administrative Code, and the Iowa Core requirements to insure alignment.
