The mandated Iowa Core identifies standards in literacy and mathematics and essential concepts and skills sets for the content areas of science, social studies, and 21st century skills. Schools and districts are required to graduate students who have met these expectations through full implementation of the Iowa Core. The Iowa Department of Education has provided and will continue to provide support to teachers. This assistance includes support for professional development and model units.
