The goal of the Summer Symposium is to provide Statewide Voluntary Preschool
Programs and Partners a professional development opportunity to enhance the implementation of key components of the Iowa Quality Program Standards in the following areas:
Strand 1: Creating Classrooms that Work for Every Child using PW-PBIS
Participants will learn to implement strategies of the Program-Wide Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports (PW-PBIS) pyramid model in inclusive settings.

Strand 2: Using Topics of study with Young Children

Participants will learn to use topics of study and inquire-based instructional strategies using Creative Curriculum Study Starters to facilitate child-led investigations.

Strand 3: The GOLD Assessment System
PLEASE NOTE: STRAND 3 IS FULL
Participants will be given an overview and implementation guidance for the GOLD Assessment System, an on-going observational assessment tool documenting child development and used to support individualized instruction.

Strand 4: Inquiry-Based Science with Young Children
PLEASE NOTE: STRAND 4 IS FULL
Participants will learn to use evidence-based instruction in science through an inquiry-based approach supporting the essential concepts and skills of the Iowa Core Curriculum.

Participants MUST attend both days.
