Webinar - Summer Food Service Program Information

Join the upcoming informational webinar on the Summer Food Service Program on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 2-3 PM.

The Summer Food Service Program provides nutritious meals and snacks to children in low-income areas during the summer months. There are many summer food service program serving sites across the state of Iowa during the summer months; however, the program is vastly under-utilized. Summer can be a difficult time for families with children, and that can impact the whole community. All too often, summer vacation is when children do not have enough nutritious food to eat. When school lets out in the summer, low-income children lose access to the school breakfasts, lunches, and afterschool snacks they receive during the regular school year.icon SFSP Flyer 2013 (121.08 kB)

This webinar will provide:

  • an introduction to who can sponsor a Summer Food Service Program,
  • what is considered a site,
  • who is eligible to participate,
  • what meals can be served, and
  • how to obtain reimbursement for meals and allowable expenses.

The training will be delivered in a webinar format that can be viewed from a computer connected to the Internet. As the date gets closer, you will receive a link to view the webinar.
