The regional trainings will focus on helping SFA’s start the application process by working with the USDA Menu Worksheets and Simplified Nutrient Assessment with both practice menus and the SFA’s actual menus. Participants will need to have watched the 6-Cent Lunch Certification Webinar (presented 9-10-12) and have an understanding of the new meal patterns. Target Audience:
Registration is limited to a maximum of two people per district/school/RCCI who will be responsible for completing the documentation for the 6-Cent Certification materials. This may include the Food Service Director and a secretary, business manager, or other designated person. No more than two people per SFA should register.

This course integrates face-to-face  and online participation that uses teacher inquiry and reflective learning to engage participants in learning mathematics and experiencing various instructional approaches to teaching mathematics.  The course will be organized around five central topics in mathematics: number and operations, geometry, measurement, data analysis, and algebra.  Through activities provided, the participants will be challenged to extend their idea of what it means to do mathematics.  They will become part of a learning community expanding their understanding through solving open-ended problems, working together, sharing ideas, and discovering multiple ways for solving problems.  The focus throughout will be incorporating the NCTM Process Standards, the Essential Characteristics of the Iowa Core Curriculum, and the Standards for Mathematical Process from the Common Core State Standards.  Frequent logging in to the online portion of the course to check on posts and replies is required.

Verification is the confirmation of eligibility for free and reduced price meals under the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. The verification process confirms the integrity of the school meal programs. It is not designed to confirm the eligibility of every applicant and participant.
 
This webinar will cover all aspects of the verification process from selecting a sample, sending letters, meeting deadlines, and recording results on CNP 2000.

This session provides hands-on opportunity to explore the availability and use of emerging technologies (Web 2.0, assistive technology, etc.) in the adult education classroom.  The session highlights several resources related to these technologies and how they can be used by the participants in their instruction.


1-4pm Learn how other adult educators are using Facebook, Twitter, Wiggio.  Find out how to choose between blogs, wikis and discussion boards.  Then, set up your own account in each of these tools and start experimenting with the helpf of experts!  Participants will be able to identify features of four or more social media tools, categorize existing models of using social media tools in adult education, and discuss and analyze benefits and challenges when using social media tools in adult eduction.

6-Cent Lunch Certification Regional Training

Regional Trainings will be offered as a follow up to the 6-Cent Lunch Certification Webinar held September 10th. The regional trainings will focus on helping SFA’s start the application process by working with the USDA Menu Worksheets and Simplified Nutrient Assessment with both practice menus and the SFA’s actual menus. Participants will need to have watched the 6-Cent Lunch Certification Webinar (presented 9-10-12) and have an understanding of the new meal patterns. The original webinar can be found on the DE website on the Certification $.06 for Meal Program page.

Target Audience:
Registration is limited to a maximum of two people per district/school/RCCI who will be responsible for completing the documentation for the 6-Cent Certification materials. This may include the Food Service Director and a secretary, business manager, or other designated person. No more than two people per SFA should register.
 
Objectives:
After the training, the learner will be able to:
  • Demonstrate use of the USDA Menu Worksheets
  • Analyze a sample menu using the USDA Menu Worksheets and Simplified Nutrient   Assessment
  • Evaluate their own SFA menu using the USDA Menu Worksheets and Simplified Nutrient Assessment
