Student eligibility guidelines for free and reduced-price meals announced

The policy for free and reduced-price school meals for children who are unable to pay the full price of meals has been released by the Iowa Department of Education’s Bureau of Nutrition and Health Services.

The Iowa Department of Education salutes the six Iowans who were recognized May 9 as the state’s Administrators of the Year. The annual program is sponsored by the School Administrators of Iowa.

 

Iowa Seeks Qualified Sponsors for Summer Food Service Program

Despite blowing snow and single-digit temperatures, preparations are underway for the 2011 Summer Food Service Program. The Iowa Department of Education is seeking potential sponsors throughout the state to operate the Summer Food Service Program, which provides meals to children at designated sites during the summer. A webinar is being held next week for organizations interested in learning more about the program.

 

Branstad, Reynolds announce upcoming Governor’s Bullying Prevention Summit

Gov. Terry Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds at their weekly news conference today announced they will host the Governor’s Bullying Prevention Summit this fall and encouraged all Iowans to engage in the important issue of bullying prevention.

 

Director Glass announces Administrator Evaluation Task Force

Iowa Department of Education Director Jason Glass today announced the 13 Iowans who will serve on the Administrator Evaluation Task Force, which was established as part of Senate File 2284. The task force will study evaluation practices for Iowa school administrators and develop recommendations for a statewide system.
