DM's Central Campus honored in D.C. for 'Green Ribbon' designation

Central Campus of Des Moines was honored in Washington, D.C., June 4 for being among the first-ever U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools. These schools have set the standard for saving energy, reducing costs, providing healthy learning spaces, and offering education geared toward the challenges of the 21st century.

Central Campus was among 26 high schools nationwide to be recognized at the ceremony, which was attended by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and other federal leaders. In all, 78 schools were honored on June 4.

 

Advisory: Meeting Notice for Task Force on Teacher Leadership and Compensation

Iowa Department of Education Director Jason Glass today announced a meeting of the Task Force on Teacher Leadership and Compensation on Friday, Aug. 17, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The meeting will take place in Room B100 (basement level) in the Grimes State Office Building.

 

Director Glass announces Task Force on Early Childhood Assessment

Iowa Department of Education Director Jason Glass today announced the 33 Iowans who will serve on the Task Force on Early Childhood Assessment, which was established as part of Senate File 2284. The group will select one standard kindergarten readiness assessment that school districts will be required to administer. A recommendation is due to the Legislature by Nov. 15.
